Heroes: Hamilton Officer, Civilian Pull Trenton Driver From Fiery SUV In Crash

A Trenton driver has a Hamilton police officer and civilian to thank for pulling him from his burning SUV after crashing into a tree last week.

Auner Rauda, 43, was heading eastbound in a 2002 Honda CRV on Klockner Road when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck the tree at the Kuser Road intersection around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Hamilton police said.

The car was engulfed in flames when Hamilton Officer Ryan Fratz arrived, police said.

Fratz and local resident John Hodniki were able to pull Rauda from his SUV, before he was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries, police said.

The crash was under investigation by Hamilton police.
